Mercedes-Benz Vision V previews Ultra-luxury Electric Van Future

Mercedes-Benz Vans has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz Vision V at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, a show-stopping electric concept that gives a bold preview of the brand’s future direction in luxury people movers. Built on the upcoming Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform set to debut in 2026, the Vision V takes the traditional van segment and reimagines it as a high-end digital lounge on wheels.

Mercedes-Benz Vision V Exterior Design

The concept aims to redefine premium MPVs, introducing a “Private Lounge” experience that rivals luxury limousines. The minimalist yet striking exterior features a flowing silhouette, 24-inch wheels with illuminated louvres, and a three-pointed star-themed front fascia. Chrome elements, short overhangs, and a sculpted roofline give it both elegance and road presence.

Interior Luxury

Inside, the Vision V is a showcase of future-forward luxury. The standout feature is a retractable 65-inch 4K cinema screen that rises from the floor to deliver an immersive in-car entertainment experience, complemented by 42 Dolby Atmos speakers, including seat-integrated exciters and overhead projectors that turn side windows into interactive displays.

The “Private Lounge” rear cabin is accessed via a large portal door with a retractable illuminated step. Occupants are treated to crystal white Nappa leather, silk accents, and open-pore burr wood, while a switchable glass partition offers instant privacy from the driver. Lounge-style seats with tubular cushions and polished aluminium detailing can recline flat, while a centre console doubles as a chessboard and display cabinet.

Mercedes-Benz Vision V Tech

Technology extends to the front as well, with a pillar-to-pillar Superscreen for the driver and front passenger, featuring real-time 3D navigation and fully customisable UI elements.

Mercedes-Benz has also developed seven immersive “experience worlds” for the Vision V, ranging from karaoke and gaming to working, shopping, and augmented-reality travel discovery. Lighting, visuals and sound adapt dynamically to each mode.

VAN.EA EV Platform

The Vision V is not a production model, but it previews what Mercedes-Benz aims to bring to market with VAN.EA — a scalable EV platform that will underpin everything from premium family vans to VIP shuttles and ultra-luxurious limousines.

Expect to see elements of the Vision V carried into future electric vans starting from 2026, as Mercedes-Benz takes a more premium and tech-heavy approach to personal and business mobility.
