Most of you, probably wouldn’t have heard of Ford EcoSport in your entire lives. That’s primarily because, this model was made and sold in Brazil, and sales were focused only in certain South American countries. At this year’s New Delhi Auto Show, Ford debuted the second generation of the EcoSport in near-production concept form, in a bid to expand Ford’s market presence in India and other emerging markets.
The Jeep Jamboree is an annual event held in various parts of the world, where Jeep owners get together and go offroad over the course of a day. The UAE edition, of course, involves a whole lot of sand, and we were one of the few media peeps invited for the 2011 run, us being actual Jeep owners notwithstanding. While the general public had to bring their own Jeeps, we were given a factory-fresh 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the one with the new “Pentastar” 3.6-litre V6. We were really looking forward to driving that one, and we were getting to do it straight where it belongs.
Chrysler’s revival has led to a complete overhaul of all their brands. Most vehicles they are churning just seem to get better by the day. Dodge, their raw performance “muscle” brand, has now finally decided to re-enter the compact segment with a bang. After the renewed success of new Durango, and a heavily revised Charger, out comes the Dodge Dart. Don’t look surprised at the name. It’s not a revival of the Dodge “muscular” Dart from the 1960s. Rather, its an off-spring from the Chrysler-Fiat stables.
When we saw the 2012 Ford Focus in person for the first time at the Dubai Motor Show, we were quite impressed by the attractive-than-most design and the better-than-most quality. In our book, it had already won the battle with the Hyundai Elantra and the Honda Civic just sitting there on the show floor. The Ford Flex has been facelifted for the 2013 model year, and is the first model to receive the updated version of the Ford MyTouch multimedia system. This move is intended to improve Ford Flex sales as well as address owner criticism of the touchscreen computer.
