Honda Jazz has been the Japanese carmaker’s entry model to their lineup in most markets around the world and a fairly successful one at that. But in some markets, the Japanese giant is planning to replace the Jazz with a five-door Honda City hatchback that carries over the sedan’s styling but with a smaller footprint.
With the entire global car market making a vigorous shift towards crossovers, sedans are turning more and more irrelevant by the day. Especially in the small-car segment, individual buyers are wooed by the high-riding hatchbacks on stilts. But sedans are not dying without a fight. Honda has launched the seventh generation of their sub-compact sedan, the City.
Honda released the 2018 City facelift for the Middle East and Africa region recently. The City is available in three grades – the DX, LX and EX.
The Honda City has always held an odd spot in the market, too expensive to compete with other sub-compacts and too small to compete with larger compacts. But the all-new 2014 model has undergone a radical transformation, and it can finally justify its price now.
The all-new 2014 Honda City has been officially launched for Saudi Arabia, UAE and other GCC markets, at a media event in Dubai.
It is interesting that Honda has chosen India to launch the all-new version of the subcompact Honda City, which pretty much sums up their target market. The new model literally debuted just hours ago at a media event in New Delhi.
I wasn’t planning to ask for the 2009 Honda City, but when Honda ME called me up and suddenly offered it to me this weekend, I agreed as usual. The previous Honda City was a cartoon-mobile that was embarrassing to be seen in, but this new one looked interesting from the day that spy shots started appearing last year, enough for me to dedicate posts to it.
