Hyundai is on a roll. The Korean brand have wet their feet in every mainstream category there is, with a decent amount of success thanks to good design and great value. However, they’ve been conspicuously absent from the large SUV market. Their largest SUV was the decidedly midsize Hyundai Grand Santa Fe. But now they have the all-new 2020 Palisade — a slightly-bigger midsize SUV.
The midsize segment has always been a bit of a snooze-fest, but the offerings have become more interesting in recent times. Many brands now have great products with good design, luxury features and entertaining handling. But while some are giving up the niche in favour of crossover SUVs, Hyundai has doubled up with a new Sonata that seems to be pulling design ideas from the premium segment into the affordable mainstream. We were invited to South Korea for a week in which we got to take a spin in the all-new 2020 Sonata.
As comparison tests go, this isn’t the most exciting, but it is probably relevant to a whole lot more people than pitting Porsches and Ferraris against McLarens and Lamborghinis yet again (spoiler alert: Porsches and Ferraris are always better). What we have here today are the newest segment of vehicles to sprout from the SUV revolution — the sub-compact crossovers. Not quite SUVs, but not really cars either, the sub-compact crossover gives owners the feeling of driving an SUV while keeping ownership costs within car-like levels. The newest of the bunch is the Honda HR-V, going up against the immensely-successful Nissan Kicks.
With the crossover game heating up to volcanic proportions, automakers are churning out models to plug all gaps that they can find in their lineup. Hyundai is one of them and they have revealed the Venue, their new sub-compact crossover. It will slot under the Kona and Creta crossovers in the Korean company’s lineup.
Right on the heels of the 2019 Hyundai Sonata that was released recently, the Korean manufacturer adds turbo and hybrid models to the lineup. The new Sonata Turbo and Sonata Hybrid, released at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show, add the much-needed variety to the sedate sedan’s lineup.
The second month of 2019 has been quite a chaotic one as a few recalls affecting over a million cars each have cropped up, from different manufacturers.
“Sensuous Sportiness”. That’s the name of the new design language Hyundai debuts with the reveal of the all-new eighth-generation 2020 Hyundai Sonata at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This new design gives the Sonata a near four-door coupe look. But has it taken away the practicality of the sedan?
The Genesis G90 is a car that has come a long way since the time it started out its life as the Hyundai Centennial. The 2020 G90 gets a slight refresh to finally give it a face that’s uniquely recognisable, although not necessarily attractive to everyone.
From the Mercedes-Benz’s diesel emission scandal to the Takata airbag issue playing a cameo, here is a list of all the recalls that happened in the past month.
