When the Range Rover Velar was added to the range, car enthusiasts around the world praised it for its elegant, almost coupe-like design, even if the drive itself was reviewed as unsatisfying. At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Range Rover has flicked another card from its design cabinet, recalling the original Rangie with the two-door Range Rover SV Coupe.
Right after revealing the hybrid Range Rover Sport P400e as well as the refreshed 2018 range of the Sport, Land Rover took the covers off its bigger brother, the Range Rover. The updates come in the form of a slightly refreshed design, more features and more power for the SV Autobiography Dynamic model. But the silver lining is not any of these. A P400e Plug-in Hybrid variant of the big Rangie is on the cards too.
The new Land Rover Discovery is not a good-looking vehicle. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, remember that the current Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol and even Range Rover were received with equal hate from the general public, only for them to become “dream” cars for those same people in less than a year, and they both currently dominate the sales charts. In all likelihood, the Discovery will pull off the same feat, once everyone gets used to it. We were just about starting to warm up to it when we had one for a few days.
Range Rovers have grown sleeker with every year since the Evoque was launched. In Land Rover’s quest to fill every market niche, there is a new model between the sub-compact Evoque and the midsize Sport that will be called the Range Rover Velar.
