What you see here are “spy shots” of the upcoming new sports car by Mercedes-Benz, these posed photos being handed out by the German carmaker themselves.
There’s nothing much to report on the Honda. It is a Honda after all. The only niggling thing was that, a few months ago, it was taking a few seconds too many to start, which was the sign of a weak battery. This was confirmed by the dealer workshop during its last service. But we chose to get our battery replaced via A&F Auto Parts’ battery delivery service.
Porsche recently offered us a day with their sportiest SUV, and we took it. It’s a lemon-green 2013 Cayenne GTS, slotting in between the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo. According to the specs, it’s not quite as fast as a Turbo, but apparently it’s quicker around the corners.
A new company called Lotus Motorcycles, a joint project of Kodewa, car designer Daniel Simon and the Holzer Group, has apparently been established to design and build the first motorcycle under the badge of the long-running sports-car manufacturer. The bike will be named Lotus C-01, and is being billed as a “hyper-bike” by the company.
The other day when we went to pick up a Peugeot 301 test car from the Peugeot showroom in Dubai, we were surprised to see the 408 sedan there. It seems the local dealer is quietly offering the Chinese-built Peugeot 408 sedan as a 2014 model in the UAE.
The BMW 4-Series Coupe has been officially released and is set to go on sale later this year. BMW will offer the 4-Series in two variants, the 428i and the 435i.
We used to own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee right up till last year. Despite what hype you may hear, the Grand Cherokee has never been a Range Rover rival; more entry-level luxury rather than premium luxury. But the real reason we bought one back then was because it was the cheapest way to get behind the wheel of a midsize SUV with a big V8 under the bonnet. The latest Grand Cherokee still offers the same formula for those who prefer it, with a little more premium gadgetry now thrown in.
No, we didn’t buy an Evoque, contrary to what you may have seen on the internets. Despite our issues with them, we asked Land Rover for one and, despite our issues with them, they still gave us one. We assume it’s a 2013 model, although with almost 9,000 km on the clock, it could be a 2012 for all we know. Not that it matters. It’s a good-looking car, to say the least.
Maserati has officially launched their new Quattroporte in Oman, at a high-profile event held at Grand Hyatt, Muscat a few weeks ago. The model was revealed in UAE and various other parts of the GCC earlier this year.
