The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is under way in Germany, with a number of new product launches, otherworldly concepts and near-production concepts. Some of the new models launched include the Nissan X-Trail, the Volkswagen Golf R and the Bentley Continental GT V8 S. Some of the near-production concepts, which hint at the future direction of these brands, include the sleek Infiniti Q30, the staid Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, the unlikely Volvo Coupe and the unfortunate BMW Active Tourer. It’s another Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling, and it’s a Kia. But this one in particular does stand out, because it seems that the funky Kia Soul is putting on an SUV (or rather, a crossover) attire for 2014 in Europe.

Contrary to what you see in the image above, the car here is not an STI. It’s only a Subaru BRZ tS. And while it does get the STI treatment through a flurry of stickers and minor upgrades, it leaves out the most vital part — the engine, and hence, keeps us waiting for the real thing.

As we’ve been harping about for a year now, the Honda S2000 is tough to maintain cosmetically. Even after we got it detailed a couple of months ago, it was going to be a major task keeping the car looking clean. The aluminium bonnet had a pebble-sized ding on it for half a year now. There we were, a Ford Raptor in our parking lot, and the only logical thing to do was to venture into the desert wilderness. So we were on the lookout for a rental 4×4 as a backup vehicle for desert-testing something as big as a tank, in case it needed to get pulled out! While we were looking for nothing less than a powerful V6 at least, we ended up with a 2013 Toyota Fortuner 2.7, thanks to the ridiculously ill-informed staff of an international rental agency.

Several pictures of the facelifted version of the 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado have been made its way into the internet, just before the launch of the 2014 Lexus GX460, with which it shares its platform and several other bits. The pictures first surfaced on a Russian Land Cruiser Club forum.
