The Association of German Car Tuners, as illegal as it may sound, has unveiled their latest concept car creation for their “TUNE IT! SAFE!” initiative, designed by BMW tuners AC Schnitzer. The 1-Series diesel coupe police car is intended to promote safe tuning, as opposed to the outright banning of modified cars, like in some countries.
German tuners Brabus is now offering a tuning package for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG, complete with a pumped-up engine and a robotic body kit.
A niche manufacturer claims to have created the world’s fastest street bike. Calling it the “Asphaltfighters STORMBRINGER powered by WARM UP,” it will have its world debut at the 2009 Essen Motor Show.
The outgoing BMW 5-Series has been out of production for several months now, so it comes as no surprise that the all-new BMW 5-Series is ready to hit the roads as a 2010 model, or 2011 as some may call it. Based on a shortened version of the new 7-Series platform, the 5-Series is longer than before, and comes with more space than the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, mated with engines that debuted in the hideous 5-Series Gran Turismo wagon earlier this year.
European niche manufacturer Fornasari has debuted their latest oddball creation. The all-new Fornasari RR99 is supposed to be a 5-door performance 4×4, built in Italy and powered by an American V8.
German firm 9ff, a Porsche tuner that claims to be a full manufacturer, will be presenting the 9ff Speed9 at the 2009 Essen Motor Show next week. Based on the latest 911 Turbo, the 9ff Speed9 is apparently a vague tribute to the 1955 Porsche 356 1500S Speedster.
The recently-updated 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera can be made be faster by slapping on a kit by TechArt of Germany. The components include a “Racing” exhaust valve and new engine electronics for an increase of “up to” 35 hp.
Here’s a tip. If you have an exotic car and don’t have much experience in driving at the limit, do not choose a public location to try out your supposed “drifting” skills. You might kill someone, but more importantly, embarrass yourself.
It is pretty much understood that most people buying a supercar likely has no comprehension of how to drive one. A guy named Any House from Texas just proved it on video, claiming he was hit by an invisible pelican, forcing him to plow his car into a salt-water lake. However, the story only gets murkier from there, as the man happens to own a car restoration business that fixes and sells accident-damaged supercars. Also, listen to the conversation on the video, which sounds a bit too staged. If it is an insurance scam, these have to be the dumbest people to carry it out.
Volvo has released the first photos of the all-new 2011 S60 sedan, further defining the corporate styling that first started with the XC60 crossover last year. It is interesting, but not really a breakthrough with that droopy nose.
