Oman’s Team Qadiroon, comprising of Azzan Abdul Amir Hameed, Faisal Fadhil Mahmood Al Bakri and Issam Abdullah Said Al-Kharusi, won the Ford Focus Rabaa Inter-GCC Rally challenge last Sunday, part of a marketing stunt to promote the Ford Focus.
Ford put the world’s greatest automakers to silence when they announced that the 2013 Shelby GT500 would produce north of 650 horses a while ago. But this figure was not official; it required SAE certification.
Roush Performance, the aftermarket tuning company specialised in Ford vehicles, has revealed the all-new 2013 Stage 3 Roush Mustang, featuring meaner looks and indomitable performance compared to its Ford counterpart.
Shelby, the Ford Mustang tuner who quite easily grabbed the spotlight in last year’s New York Auto Show with their insane, asphalt-ripping 800 hp GT500 Super Snake, is all set to repeat the feat with the Shelby 1000.
Ford will be offering the Explorer in an SHO-like high-performance variant called the Explorer Sport for 2013. Bolted to the engine bay will be the same twin-turbo 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 found in the Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKS, among other models.
The Ford Focus Raba’a Rally is an “interactive inter-GCC rally tour that will pit six teams from six different GCC countries on “a test for driving skills, endurance, and the use of tech found in the 2012 Ford Focus”, as participants drive across all of the GCC countries to complete a series of tasks. Teams will be rated on “their skills and performances rather than speed, as well as the level of participation and support of their fans.” Each team will be headed by their respective “celebrity” national captains, who have already been picked out from the local entertainment and sports scene.
The 2012 Ford Focus went on sale in the GCC recently, and to promote the car, Ford Middle East is doing an event called Ford Focus Rabaa Rally in an “interactive inter-GCC rally tour.”
Ford has taken wraps off the all-new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 convertible at the Chicago Auto Show, which also happens to mark the 20th anniversary of Ford’s tuning arm namely the Special Vehicle Team or SVT.
The 2012 Roush Stage 3 Mustang is now officially available at Ford showrooms in the UAE. If anyone remembers, the Roush Mustang was offered with the cheesy “The Shamal” branding last year, but this year, it will simply go as the “Roush Stage 3” Mustang, with more power for 2012.
The all-new 2013 Ford Fusion midsize sedan has debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, touting styling that seems to meld an Aston Martin front end with the rear of a Ford Mondeo. Interestingly, the same car will also be launched in Europe as the Ford Mondeo, so it remains to be seen what it will be called in GCC markets.
