The Range Rover Sport SVR will make its global debut at Pebble Beach on August 14th. It will be the fastest and most powerful Land Rover ever made by the British brand. It will also be the first SVR model, a new designation created for future performance Land Rover and Jaguar products.
We’ve had our Range Rover for nearly 18 months now. When we bought it, it had some minor cosmetic flaws that we elected to leave as-is at the time, because they didn’t hinder the operation of the car. But we recently decided to keep it for longer than we initially anticipated, so we figured we’ll dress it up and restore its new-car vibe.
So how’s our much-maligned Range Rover doing? Perfectly fine, actually. It’s become our daily driver, used even for the occasional trip to Abu Dhabi. This kind of reliability is more than we ever could’ve hoped for. But the 282 hp 4.4-litre V8 engine is nine years old now, with around 107,000 km on the clock. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see if it has lost any performance over the years, as is supposedly the case with all engines?
Stealing the show from the other SUV manufacturers this year is Range Rover, as they showed off their new long-wheelbase version for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and not at the earlier Dubai Motor Show as had been rumoured earlier.
In a twist of events, Range Rover will be unveiling hybrid versions of two of their flagships — the Range Rover and the Sport models. The duo will be making its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the coming weeks.

Land Rover revealed details of the 2011 Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate Edition and plans to show it off at the Geneva Auto Show. The model will feature an upgraded handcrafted interior. Only 500 units will be sold worldwide.
