Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe 2012 debuts
The AMG version of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe has debuted. We have to say, it doesn’t look as monstrous as the outgoing C-Class AMG model, but it will still have that insane 6.2-litre V8 engine.

The last Porsche World Roadshow for the UAE was held two years ago at the Dubai Autodrome. It was a superb event for highlighting the entire Porsche line-up in one go. Seemingly open only to existing Porsche customers and us media types, it was a well-organised event that got us some wheel-time with the 2009 models. We haven’t driven any 911s or Cayennes in the past two years since then, simply because Porsche refuses to give us test cars for more than a few hours, but they did invite us to the 2011 edition of the Porsche World Roadshow,
Inden Design has decided to make the 2011 Mercedes-Benz S500 to look more like the S65 AMG version. It’s probably because the price of the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG is insanely high and this will offer consumers the same level of sporty looks but without the same level of oomph, not that we are saying this will be any cheaper. Performance is improved slightly, so it’s not all cosmetic.

The latest-generation Skoda Fabia was already available in the UAE before the local Skoda franchise switched hands from Autostar to Ali & Sons Motors late last year. With a new showroom in Dubai, the Skoda Fabia has been relaunched for 2011.
This exclusive original video has been a long time coming. We drove the 2010 Honda Civic Type-R a year ago when it was first launched in the UAE. We made this little video, largely due to the efforts of Faisal Khatib, with support from me and Marouf Hussain. Think of it as our very own tribute to Japanese engineering.

The MG brand has officially been launched in the UAE, at an event in Dubai. MG, or Morris Garages, was originally a sporty British brand under Rover before changing hands to become a part of SAIC, China’s largest carmaker. Chinese-built models at launch include the MG 550 and the MG 750, with the MG3, MG 350 and MG6 models set to join later.
For those not in the know, a hybrid is a car with a petrol engine that also has an electric motor attached that provides additional power when needed and recharges its battery as the car moves, all while saving petrol, saving the environment and saving the whales. The theory goes that petrol is cheap in the GCC, so no one cares about hybrid cars. While that is definitely true, we live in the UAE, which boasts the highest petrol prices in the region and is proudly increasing prices further to match international market rates eventually. Suddenly, a hybrid doesn’t seem like a bad idea after all.
At the risk of sounding like an iPod on loop mode, we’ll say again that the 2011 Infiniti QX56 is a big car. That also made our latest economy test more interesting. Is it possible to drive one of the largest 4x4s on the planet without hurting the planet, or more importantly, your wallet?
