This year’s edition marked the introduction of various 2013 models such as the Toyota Avalon, Subaru XV CrossTrek, Hyundai Santa Fe, Nissan Altima, SRT Viper, Lincoln MKZ, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, Lexus ES and more. Chrysler has officially pulled the wraps off the 2013 Viper, except that they’ve decided to drop the “Dodge” name and turn “SRT” into a separate brand. So the SRT Viper, as it will be known, is out, boasting 640 hp and 813 Nm of torque from a front-midship naturally-aspirated 8.4-litre V10.

The Nissan Altima is quite possibly second in midsize-sedan sales in the UAE, behind the Toyota Camry, and easily in the top three on the overall GCC market by our estimates. Apparently, it has toppled the Honda Accord for second-place behind the Camry even in the United States, where it is built. So the launch of the all-new 2013 Altima is, by all accounts, more important than any other car in its current line-up.

The Toyota Land Cruiser, quite possibly the most overrated vehicle in the world, or so most of us would like to think. So many of them ply the roads in the Middle East, tailgating everyone else, that most people have a love-hate perspective on them. We did drive the Land Cruiser before, but never really pushed it too hard off-road, because we weren’t experienced enough back then. But then, come 2012, there is an updated version with a new 4.6-litre engine option. This time, we were ready to take it off-road. Properly.
