Video of the week: Nissan GT-R vs Lexus LFA race
Popular American magazine Motor Trend did what everyone else was thinking, pitting their Nissan GT-R long-term tester with the all-new Lexus LFA in a drag race. The winner isn’t really clear-cut.

Nissan’s luxury arm Infiniti is recalling 134,000 G35 sedan and coupe models in the United States. The recall covers 2005-2006 model sedans and 2005-2007 model coupes, and involves potentially faulty airbags.
Following its international debut in the 10th Dubai International Motor show, Taiwan’s first automotive brand LUXGEN has signed its first international distributorship agreement with Oman’s Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC to become the exclusive agency of LUXGEN in Oman.
After turning the popular midsize sedan, sub-compact sedan and compact crossover segments on their heads with truly unique designs, Korean carmaker Hyundai still have the compact sedan segment to contend with, what with the lacklustre Elantra being their current offering. But the all-new 2011 Hyundai Elantra is just around the corner, and it is an absolute stunner.
The 2011 Hyundai Verna debuted at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show this week. Verna is what the Hyundai Accent is known as in some markets, so this mini-Sonata is basically what we should be getting by the end of the year.
We’d been asking for the 2010 Nissan Maxima since October last year. For reasons unknown, our five requests were not taken seriously, while crappy magazines were getting to keep GT-Rs for months at a time. But finally someone took notice and let us have a Maxima for three measly days. I can’t say I was too enthusiastic about test-driving a rebodied Altima, but our readers had been clamouring for a real review of this car, and I’m now happy to oblige.
Bufori Motor Car Company, the Australia-based niche carmaker, unveiled their Malaysian-built Bufori Geneva luxury model a few months ago at, where else, the recent 2010 Geneva International Motor Show a few months ago. The company was founded by Anthony Khouri, George Khouri and Gerry Khouri, whose last name sounds like their roots lie in the Arab region, making this car’s origins even more vague.
Toyota seemingly has a fix for the wayward stability control on the Lexus GX 460 and Toyota Prado VX that prompted a premature recall last week, as shown in this released video. It should simply involve uploading the reprogrammed Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) code onto every customer car soon, although anyone still expecting to drift their truck can likely turn off the VSC manually.
After being blamed for not reacting quickly enough to safety concerns over sticky pedals, it seems now Toyota is going overboard with regards to new concerns over the Lexus GX 460’s stability control, temporarily suspending sales worldwide, even in the UAE. Now the 2010 Toyota Prado VX and VX-L sister-model sales have also been suspended.
U.S. magazine Consumer Reports, a respected publication that has no advertising and buys their own test vehicles, has come out with a scathing report saying that the Lexus GX 460 is a “safety risk” and put it on their “do not buy” list. They came up with the recommendation because they believe the electronic stability control does not react in time during loss of control at high speeds. As a result, Toyota has temporarily stopped sales of the GX 460 in the United States. We believe the story is being blown out of proportion.
